Sam Brookes Reviews
Exposed Magazine – 26th October 2011
This Thursday, Sheffield gets its own dose of London folk delivered from the up and coming Sam Brookes.
His single In Weeks feels like a delightful crossover of bluegrass American country and something essentially English. He delivers a soaring folk sound, with beautifully delicate finger-picking guitar, and his sharp, rich voice transports the listener to an idyllic land.
Considering his producer Chris Hughes has worked with Tears for Fears, Robert Plant and Paul McCartney, Sam Brookes could well be joining Newton Faulkner, Paulo Nutini and recent arrival Ed Sheeran in the legions of acoustic folk solo acts that are springing out of the ground.
